- · The purpose of our Virtual Learning Day is to practice being prepared during a situation such as a bad weather day so that if the internet is still available, we can get credit for a school day and not have to make it up later.
- · It is still a school day, but students will do their school assignments from home or somewhere where they have access to the internet.
- · Students must have internet access. If they need to borrow a chromebook from the school front office, students have been told to check one out no later than Friday Oct 17th.
- · Teachers will post assignments on Google Classroom, which all students at JMPHS are familiar with. Teachers are encouraged to talk about the assignment for their class prior to the Virtual Day so that students will know what to expect. Students can log in to the Google Classroom website with a computer or chromebook. Also, there is a Google Classroom app for phones that may work well for some students.
- · The Google Classroom assignment for each class period must be started, completed, and submitted during the normal class period time. The assignment will only be available during the normal class period time. Once the assignment is completed and submitted, this will count as both attendance and as an assignment grade.
- · Once students complete the assignment and submit it, they do not have to stay logged in to Google classroom for that period, but they will need to log back in to Google classroom for the next class period.
- · Zoom will not be used.
- · If students encounter any problems during the Virtual Day, they should email their teacher immediately.
- · If a student is sick or going to the doctor/dentist (or other) and can't complete an assignment for any class period, it will count as an absence. The normal rules will apply: the student will need to bring an excuse for the absence and they will have 3 school days to make up their work.
- · For students with a class at MCHS:
- Football players: Coach Harris has told his players not to miss first period weightlifting (provide your own transportation) and not to miss practice.
- Band students: attend class if you can provide your own transportation, otherwise, JMPHS has requested that the absences be counted as excused absences.
