Position Summary

James Madison Preparatory High School is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and state-certified High School Social Studies Teacher to join our faculty.

The ideal candidate will create an engaging classroom environment that fosters critical thinking, historical literacy, and active citizenship across subjects such as World History, U.S. History, American Government, and Economics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver standards-based, engaging Social Studies instruction tailored to high school students (Grades 9–12).

  • Promote civil discourse, critical analysis of primary sources, and a strong understanding of constitutional principles and historical context.

  • Utilize effective classroom management techniques to support a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning space.

  • Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with parents/guardians and school administrators.

  • Participate in staff development, curriculum planning, and extracurricular school activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Political Science, or a related Social Science field (Master’s preferred).

  • Certification: Valid Florida Educator Certificate in Social Science (Grades 6–12) or eligibility for Florida certification.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills.

  • Dedication to JMPHS's mission of developing academic excellence and student character.
